The Aviation Safety Network reported that airline related accidents caused the deaths of 556 people.

????This is in comparison to 44 in 2017.

????The BBC reports that the worst fatality happened in October following the Lion airplane crash in Indonesia which killed 189 passengers.

????The crash was said to be caused by technical issues with the plane.

??But despite the numbers, flying is still the safest way to travel.

??In fact, according to the National Safety Council, your chances of dying during air travel is 1 in 9,821 or .01 percent.

??ASN CEO Harro Ranter told the BBC that based statistics show air travel safety has made a lot of progress in the the past two decades.
