Third Canadian Detained In China Following Meng Arrest

A third Canadian has been detained in China, after a Chinese technology executive was recently arrested in Vancouver.

Meng Wanzhou, chief financial officer of the Chinese telecommunications giant Huawei Technologies, was arrested December 1 by request of the United States.

A Canadidan official said there is no reason to believe the recent detention is linked to the previous arrests.

Two Canadians, former diplomat Michael Kovrig and businessman Michael Spavor, were detained by China last week.
