According to a report by Reuters, on Saturday, tropical storm Florence moved inland, flooding rivers and towns, knocking down trees, and cutting power to nearly a million homes and businesses, as it dumped unprecedented amounts of rain on North and South Carolina.

North Carolina Governor Roy Cooper said in a news briefing, β€œThis system is unloading epic amounts of rainfall, in some places measured in feet and not inches.
