Ford is recalling almost 2 million F-150 pickup trucks because a seat belt defect could trigger a fire.

Ford is recalling almost 2 million F-150 pickup trucks because a seat belt defect could trigger a fire..??????In a statement Ford said they received 17 reports of smoke or fire in the US and 6 in Canada in relation to belt pretensioners.

??????However they aren’t aware of any accidents or injuries caused that were a result of the seat belt issue.????Reuters reports the mechanism of the pretensioner works in tandem with the airbags and has an explosive charge that locks the seatbelt during a crash.????However Ford says some of the pretensioners could create excessive sparks that could result in a fire.????Saying things like insulation and carpet can catch on fire.????The recall is for 2015-2018 model Ford F-150 Regular Cab and SuperCrew Cab vehicles made between 2014 and 2018.

It is important to note the F-series is the best selling vehicle model in the US.??????The recall includes 1.62 million vehicles in the US, 340,000 in Canada and 37,000 in Mexico.??????USA Today reports dealers will repair vehicles for free.
