Utes welcome back former teammate

Dana when utah welcomes in usc friday night..

It will be a homecoming for a couple of former local high school stars...including one guy who played the last two seasons with the utes... 14-20 48-54 dana: stevie tu'ikolovatu played in all 13 games for the utes last season, but just to show how deep utah's defensive line is, he couldn't crack the starting lineup.

So, he got his degree and transferred to usc.

Tu'ikolovatu: i saw an opportunity open up with their young d-linemen, and i felt it was a good move for my wife and i.

If she's happy, i'm happy.

It's easier to play football when you have a happy wife."

Dana: tu'ikolovatu is still close with his utah teammates.

Tu'ikolovatu: "i love those guys.

I miss them.

I remember everything.

I remember beating usc, saying how much i hate these guys, but now i love them to death.

Dana: did his hate for usc compare to byu?

Tu'ikolovatu: "oh, byu is a different level, man.

I don't think anything in the world can reach my hate for byu."

Dana: so is it an advantage for usc to have a former ute on the roster?

Whittingham: it's an advantage because he's a good player.

Stevie is a good player, so that would an advantage.

But as far as inside information or anything like that, i think that's overblown.

Dana: another local kid that got away is former salem hills high star porter gustin, who is becoming a star at usc.

Whittingham: "he's a good player.

He's a really good player.

He played a bunch for them as a true freshman.

He's starting for them as a sophomore.

We recruited him hard.

We thought he was one of the best players in the state.

We would have loved to have him become a ute, but
