Southwest Airlines Flight Suffers Engine Failure

One death has been reported following an emergency landing in Philadelphia.

According to the airline and federal officials, a Southwest Airlines aircraft experienced an engine failure in flight.

The failure led the engine to disintegrate, spraying the side of the aircraft with shrapnel.

The chairman of the National Transportation Safety Board reported one death, but did not speculate on the cause or circumstances.

The Boeing 737 was traveling from New York's LaGuardia Airport to Love Field in Dallas, Texas.
