Starbucks Will Close 8,000 U.S. Stores For Racial-Bias Training

Wochit - April 17, 2018

On the afternoon of May 29, Starbucks will close 8,000 company-owned U.S. cafes.

Nearly 175,000 employees will be trained on how to prevent racial discrimination in its stores.

The announcement comes as Starbucks tries to cool tensions after the arrest of two black men at one of its Philadelphia cafes last week.

The arrest sparked accusations of racial profiling at the world's largest coffee chain.

Starbucks CEO Kevin Johnson has apologized for the β€œreprehensible” arrests..
