Stephen Hawking Has Died At 76
Stephen Hawking has died at his home in Cambridge at the age of 76.
The theoretical cosmologist spent his academic career at the University of Cambridge, but rose to international celebrity for his works of popular science, like A Brief History of Time.
Hawkings academic work focused on intense gravitational fields caused by the collapse of massive stars, or black holes, and the dynamics around the gravitational point of no-return for black holes, called the event horizon.
The term Hawking radiation bares his name because of his theoretical argument for black hole evaporation, which predicted some particles are emitted at the event horizon due to effects of quantum mechanics.
