Who would have thought this could ever happen – after months of what has seemed like bickering between the US and North Korean figureheads, Kim Jong-Un has reached out via South Korea to suggest that he would be willing to discuss halting nuclear testing and to meet Donald Trump. Trump, in return, has reportedly said he will be willing to meet the leader of the reclusive state – could this mean an end to the rhetoric that has been reverberating for over a year now?

It was certainly Guillermo Del Toro’s night at the Oscars – as the Director’s The Shape of Water took away four gongs, making it the most talked-about picture of the evening. Frances McDormand picked up her second Academy Award, while Gary Oldman picked up his first – and Jordan Peele became the first black winner of the Best Original Screenplay award, going to the critically acclaimed cult horror movie Get Out. Allison Janney and Sam Rockwell picked up awards for their supporting roles in I, Tonya and Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri respectively – while Pixar returned to form with their movie Coco sweeping up the Animated Feature and Best Song gongs.

The Oscars make a yearly reel celebrating and commemorating the lives of whom we’ve lost from the entertainment industry in the past year – but fans of the original screen Batman, Adam West, were dismayed to find that their favorite caped crusader didn’t make the cut – while other stars such as Della Reese and John Mahoney were also conspicuously absent.

Huge news for Nintendo gamers abound this week as it’s been revealed that one of their biggest franchises – the all-star beat-em-up game Super Smash Bros – will be making a big return to the Nintendo Switch later this year. The news came as a welcome surprise to those watching the latest in Nintendo’s ‘Direct’ presentations, which showcases new games several times a year. No date for release nor any specific details have been set just yet, but the news alone that the title will be coming back to home consoles has got people very excited indeed.
