Target experiences nationwide register outage just one day before Father's Day

Target experienced a nationwide cash register outage on Saturday, leaving customers waiting in long lines. Some abandoned their carts and baskets altogether. Registers have since been restored and Target does not believe the outage was caused by hacking.

Target Says 'Internal Technology Issue' Caused System Outage
Target faced a system outage, stopping customers in the U.S. from paying for in-store purchases. According to Reuters, Target announced that its payment register are back online. The company said in a statement the outage was caused by an β€œinternal technology issue.” The outage lasted for about two hours and was not a data breach or a security-related issue. Target assured customers that no guest information was compromised.
