Farmers push past police in Haryana, keep marching to city

They were hit by water cannons and tear gas. Iron barricades, cement barriers, piles of sandbags, even trucks with deflated tyres, were placed in their way in Haryana while police detained several of their leaders. But thousands of farmers from Punjab and Haryana on Thursday pushed past the might of government machinery with steely resolve, slowed down but determined to reach Delhi to protest against the Centre’s new agriculture laws.
