A 13th American was diagnosed with the coronavirus on Monday as the death toll in China topped an ominous 1,000 with health officials struggling to contain the epidemic. The Chinese Ministry of Health said on Tuesday that 1,016 people have died in China with the death toll crossing 100 in a day for the first time. There were 108 deaths Monday, including 103 in Hubei province, where the disease first emerged.
