A report recently said President Donald Trump expressed interest in buying Greenland, the world’s largest island. According to Business Insider, Trump talked about it in “varying degrees of seriousness.” Greenland is seen as a vital geopolitical location with a population of roughly 56,000. While some advisers responded enthusiastically to Trump’s interest, others scoffed at the idea. In the past, the U.S. bought Alaska from Russia in 1867.
