What Do Critics Think Of "Happy Death Day"?

Happy Death Day is a new horror film hitting theaters this weekend. College student Tree Gelbman (Jessica Rothe) wakes up on the morning of her birthday after an embarrassing night of partying. Her day goes from bad to worse when she is murdered at night by an unknown perpetrator wearing a mask of a baby. Every time she dies she wakes up and the day starts again. It's Groundhog's Day meets a slasher film. The movie holds a 67% on Rotten Tomatoes. Screenrant said the movie is "a fun, if silly blending of various genre tropes ... fueled by a strong performance."
