Sanders Talks Supporters Voting Trump in General Election

In an interview Sunday, senator Bernie Sanders said the fact that some of his supporters during the 2016 Democratic primaries eventually voted for Donald Trump in the general election is because of “the nature of politics.” While on Meet the Press, Sanders said, "People say not everybody who voted for Bernie ended up voting for Hillary, no kidding! That's what happens in politics." According to a recent survey from the Cooperative Congressional Election Study, an estimated 12 percent of people who voted for the Vermont senator in a Democratic primary ended up voting for Trump in November.
