Man Says Uber Driver Attacked Him Multiple Times Including Ambushing Him at Home

A Chicago man is suing Uber after he says he was attacked multiple times—including once at his home—by a driver for the ride-sharing app last December. David Riordan says he was taking an Uber home from a Christmas party when the driver, Munstr Abuseimi, became upset and forced him to get out. Riordan says Abuseimi then punched him multiple times. It's unclear what caused Abuseimi to kick Riordan out of his car in the first place. Riordan says he reported the incident to Uber before taking another Uber home. Riordan's lawsuit, which was filed Thursday, states Abuseimi was waiting at Riordan's home, having gotten the address from the Uber app. Riordan says Abuseimi attacked him with a metal baton, leaving him with a concussion, dislocated jaw, fractured orbital, and bleeding in his brain. He says Abuseimi yelled, "Don't [expletive] with Uber drivers" during the attack. Abuseimi was arrested a few days later and charged with aggravated battery with a deadly weapon; he's pleaded not guilty. Riordan is suing Uber because he claims the company doesn't do enough to protect customers by screening its drivers.
