Family Awarded $11.2 Million After Daughter Dies During 'Midnight Rider' Filming

Sarah Jones, was a camera assistant killed while working on the Gregg Allman biopic “Midnight Rider.” Her family was awarded $11.2 million Monday in a civil lawsuit over her death. Jurors decided that CSX Transportation were primarily responsible. Jones was killed in 2014 during the filming of a dream sequence. The scene involved William Hurt occupying a hospital bed on a live railroad trestle above the Altamaha River near. Director Randall Miller plead guilty to involuntary manslaughter and criminal trespassing. He served a year in jail.
