According to the United States military, a special forces operation led to the death of an Islamic State operative linked to an attack at a Turkish night club. Abdurakhmon Uzbeki was killed during an assault near Mayadin, Syria, on April 6th. The man was supposedly a close associate of militant leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi. Colonel John Thomas stated the mission was a ground operation, but declined to comment further. However, Col. Thomas stated Uzbeki helped to facilitate an attack on the nightclub, Reina, in Istanbul on New Year's Eve.
