Kurdish Paramilitary In Syria Seeks To Expand Force

The Kurdish paramilitary in Syria is seeking to expand the size of its forces by two-thirds. The YPG's plans aim to bolster troop figures from 60,000 to 100,000 by the end of the year. According to an army spokesman, the group aspires to exceed 100,000 troops by the second half of 2017. Known as the People's Protection Units, the YPG has played a crucial role in the fight against the Islamic State in Syria, receiving support from the United States.
