Ice Covers Roads Across Midwest and Southern Plains

A glaze of ice has covered roads stretching from Oklahoma to southern Illinois. The road conditions, caused by wet winter storms, led to numerous wrecks throughout the Midwest and southern Plains. In Missouri, a slick roadway is suspected cause for a fatal wreck. The state's Highway Patrol stated a driver was killed after her SUV veered off Interstate 55 near Festus.
