Nutritionists have published a study that suggest alcohol puts a persons brain into starvation mode. Researchers gave alcohol to lab mice, and their drive to intake food increased and they often times overate. Lead researcher Denis Burdakov, D. Phil, of the Francis Crick Institute, stated, “Alcohol-induced food appetite would drive someone away from alcohol. Or maybe food makes it easier for the body to process alcohol.” He suggests eating before going to a bar.
